EMDR

(Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

Reorganize your life's challenges

What is EMDR?

"Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders."

(EMDR International Association, 2020)

With the use of EMDR's eight phase therapy, Jonathan would strive to improve your coping skills, help your brain reprocess the trauma you have experienced, and minimize/eliminate the negative psychological impact of the trauma. Most importantly, Jonathan would work with you at your pace. There is no rushing the process.

What to expect for EMDR therapy:

- sessions are 80-90mins long

- exploring and discussing the details about past traumas are not necessary for effective treatment

- we will briefly discuss the background and research behind EMDR and answer any concerns or questions regarding treatment before any treatment begins

- we will follow an eight phase treatment program as outlined by EMDRIA

- Phases 1-2 of EMDR focus on learning about you and developing the necessary skills for self-care.

- Phase 3 is about assessing traumatic associations within the self

- Phases 4-7 focuses on the treatment of targeted trauma associations

- Phase 8 is an evaluation phase which checks for progress or any unresolved issues or concerns.
